And they were filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different toungues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim
Acts 2, 4
We remember that Jesus promised that He would never leave His friends alone.
We call to mind that on Pentecost, Jesus' followers were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Their hearts received God's peace and energy.
The Spirit appeared to this select group in tongues of fire
and unloosened their tonguess to speak the marvels of the Lord.
Peter, fired by that same Spirit, preached his first sermon to three thousand people
who had gathered around because of the noise and the many tongues they heard.
They were all converted that afternoon because they were cut to the heart
by what they had done to Jesus.
They received baptism in Jesus' Name, were also fired by the Spirit to spread the Good News everywhere.
Come, Holy Spirit, Creator come from your bright heav'nly throne: come take possession of our souls, and make them all Your own.
